We’ve created this website to provide the golf industry with a platform of complimentary tools and resources designed to grow businesses, careers, and the game.

Our objective is to offer FREE services, including marketing campaigns, sales training, and business philosophies, alongside related materials and programs, all focused on growing the game and fostering the success of your business and career. The GIEG Foundation is the first step on the path to exponential growth.

For two decades, MMC has been at the forefront of golfer acquisition, directly fueling a third of the golf industry’s growth and consistently outperforming all others, including the governing bodies’ collective efforts.

MMC has been directly responsible for approximately one-third of the entire golf industry’s recovery over the last two decades in terms of golfer acquisition and player participation. To date, MMC has generated over $500 million in immediate cash and backend revenue for our partner businesses, acquiring more than 1 million golfers over the past twenty years.

Want to know where the industry’s recovery actually came from over the last 20 years? Here’s the breakdown:

  1. MMC: We drove over a third of the growth, bringing in over 1 million golfers.
  2. COVID-19: The pandemic also contributed to about a third of the growth, adding another 1 million golfers.
  3. Entire Golf Industry: Collectively responsible for approximately one third of the recovery.

I prefer direct communication, and knowing where we come from is essential to charting a course forward. As noted above, three key elements influenced the golf industry’s slow recovery. Despite the common belief among those working in the industry that COVID-19 was the savior of the game, the reality is more complex. The recent surge in demand for tee times is largely due to the fact that we’ve lost over 7,000 golf courses in the last two decades, and those markets are presently underserved. A third of our facilities closed their doors – and they didn’t have to because the drop in play was not the lack of interest in the game or lifestyle.

Inadequate educational programs, inflated egos, outdated thinking, as well as the lack of support from recreational golf’s counterpart, professional golf, contributed more to the downturn than any other factor or combination thereof, although, the closures did leave a significant void in the industry. It is difficult to grow the game if new golfers have nowhere to play. This creates an even greater demand for MMC’s services that targets casual and non-golfers, a largely untapped demographic that includes consumers who have purchased golf-related products but have not yet actively engaged in the sport. These individuals present an opportunity to optimize course utilization during traditionally slow periods, contributing to a more balanced tee sheet and set of books.

While some markets were admittedly oversaturated, competition is generally beneficial for business growth. Savvy entrepreneurs are recognizing this opportunity, and those who are currently benefiting from reduced competition should anticipate the emergence of new courses to meet existing demand.

This site will provide you with the resources to prepare for this evolving landscape.

Forget wasting money on trade shows; they can be a drain on resources, often proving to be more of a distraction than a learning opportunity. Similarly, many online seminars and workshops fail to deliver engaging content that effectively benefits those seeking to learn. Membership-based platforms, despite their recurring monthly or annual fees, often disappoint by offering outdated or overly generic advice, with insufficient focus on the unique challenges and opportunities present within the golf industry, often because their business model relies on perpetual membership fees.

This platform offers a distinct advantage: FREE access. You can freely select the resources most pertinent to your development and progress at your own speed. The insights and strategies offered are designed for enduring relevance, requiring only minor adaptations to pricing, service offerings, and a revamping of the marketing materials over the course of a career. Moreover, the content originates from a recognized expert in the golf industry, ensuring users benefit from firsthand expertise rather than derivative interpretations. This expert’s commitment to ongoing learning ensures the platform will consistently provide timely, relevant, and valuable information.

Our recent research into the question, “Why isn’t the game growing or recovering at a faster rate?” has led us to examine the leading organizations and associations within the golf industry, often referred to as the governing bodies. Notably, nearly all of the governing bodies we studied that offer educational programs on business growth have encountered significant financial difficulties, with some experiencing revenue declines of up to 50% in a single year. While their contributions to the industry are significant, it’s prudent to consider whether organizations facing such headwinds are best positioned to provide business growth education.

These institutions offer invaluable expertise in areas such as course maintenance, golf instruction, and promoting the professional side of the game. Recognizing their own strengths, they, like all of us, can best contribute by focusing on their areas of excellence, while partnering with, and entrusting the growth of businesses, careers, and the game to those with specialized expertise in those domains. By doing so, they will not only be doing what is best for the game, but by shifting their full attention to their strengths, they will be able to concentrate 100% of their effort on what brings the most revenue to their organization.

For instance, public records reveal that a mere fraction of their revenue—as little as 5% in some cases—derives from initiatives geared toward the “growth of the game.” Furthermore, charitable contributions from these same nonprofit entities often average a measly 2.5% of their earnings. The reality is that revenue tied to genuine game development is dwarfed by the income generated from sources like tour events.

While these events undoubtedly play a role in exposing golf to a broader audience, viewership trends paint a concerning picture. The tours are losing viewers, spectators and fans faster than a high-handicapper loses golf balls. By strategically partnering with an innovative external company—one unburdened by conventional thinking—these organizations can more effectively serve their members, better serve their clients, and ultimately, better serve the game itself. Such a partnership also presents a sound business strategy. By aligning with experts in the field, these organizations can tap into proven methods for growth, attracting millions of new fans and attendees to their events as a natural byproduct of expanding the game’s reach.

Effective marketing hinges on understanding your audience. It can be challenging for a dedicated golf professional, immersed in the sport, to fully grasp the mindset of a casual or non-golfer. These individuals may only occasionally consider golf as a pleasant way to enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise, and socialize with friends. Having played my first round in 1989, I instantly appreciated the experience. I officially entered the golf industry by launching my initial golfer acquisition campaign in December 2005. To this day, I maintain a casual golfer’s perspective; I enjoy the game, but I’m not a fanatic. My true passion lies in growing businesses that contribute positively to society. I’m passionate about helping owners expand their businesses and assisting golf professionals in advancing their careers. I also relish sharing the experience of a round of golf with others, because I know it has the power to transform lives.

Let’s face it: most golf pros would rather be on the course playing a round, fraternizing with members, or fitting a customer for a new set of golf clubs than studying the psychology of sales and marketing. Therefore, it’s essential to create a streamlined, enjoyable process for business growth that integrates seamlessly into their existing routines.

Understanding your strengths and weaknesses is as crucial as knowing your handicap. To achieve success, it’s essential to focus on leveraging your strengths and avoiding situations where you’re outmatched. Competing with MMC in growing a business or the industry is like approaching The Masters without a caddie who knows every break on every green – you might have the talent, but you’re missing the crucial guidance for success.

The initial programs offer a preview of our more extensive offerings yet to come, designed to demonstrate the potential for customization while maintaining a solid foundational understanding.

These campaigns provide a structured framework while encouraging you to incorporate your own creative elements. A key marketing principle is the “Pique Technique,” which emphasizes capturing consumer attention. This is best achieved by offering innovative and irresistible offers that differentiate you from competitors. Offer innovative and irresistible solutions that your customers can’t refuse. Strategic wording and presentation are essential, ensuring you provide value without overextending yourself. Similar to a golfer’s stance and grip, a well-crafted marketing strategy is crucial for achieving success.

To ensure fair access, each golf course is limited to one free download every 90 days. These campaigns are designed for immediate implementation, not passive collection. Actively using these resources is essential for driving growth in your business, career, and the game itself.

These eight low to no cost DIY profit center campaigns are designed to drive significant business growth over the next 24 months. Simply follow the system and launch a new campaign every three months as directed. In fact, we will be launching this website and strategically releasing one mini-campaign every three months over the next two years to ensure that everyone has ample time to fully implement each campaign and reap its maximum benefits. After this initial two-year cycle, refresh your offers and designs and repeat the process to create a decade of growth for your business and career.
